Jed The Horse speaks

Hi, my name is Jed the Horse.

At least that’s my new name.   Nobody knows my real name.  I was dropped off at a New York auction and nobody bothered to share my information.

I don’t know why my former family didn’t want me anymore.  I just ended up on day being put on a trailer. [...]

Sarge in training: follow-up visit

Two members of Equihab went to see Sarge today, to see how his training is progressing.    He arrived two days ago and is scheduled to stay 30 days.    Sarge  is being professionally started under saddle by Sam Smucker at Sam’s farm in Quarryville, PA.

He is doing very well.   The trainer says he [...]

Sarge-> off to the trainer's for a month

Sarge the Belgian left today for a month stay with the professional trainer.   He was green and needed an intensive program to springboard him into being an awesome riding horse.     He will be with Sam Smucker until the end of September.

Thanks go to Virginia who fostered him just before he left: working with him [...]

Gertie gets a vet exam

Gertie the older belgian mare has been very slow to gain weight.  She arrived during the winter, and she was just skin-and-bones.   She’s an old girl.    Since arriving: her teeth were done by a different vet, she was dewormed several times, she get unlimited hay & turn-out, and she’s getting huge servings of [...]

Update #2 since Gypsy's adoption

Gipper meets new friends

Gypsy (now renamed Gipper) is doing GREAT at his new home.  It’s a horsey paradise for him!  They emailed me today.  She writes:

Hard to believe it has only been a little over two weeks since Gipper (Gypsy) came to live with us. He continues to be a [...]

Romeo done training -- and ADOPTED!

Happy together!

Romeo has finished his 30 days of pro training with Sam Smucker.  He seems like a whole new horse!

He was adopted by a nice local woman, Michele.  Michele went up to Sam’s numerous times to watch him work Romeo & to get pointers while riding.   It seems like a great match!

Romeo was [...]

Gabrielle's Song arrives

Gabrielle’s Song (Gabby) arrived to Equihab today (Sunday 8/1).   She was adopted some time back, but due to a change in financial situation, she needed to find a new home.

Gabby was delivered, and came off the trailer looking very good.   She’s a nice, well mannered horse.   She’s well built.  And she’s got [...]

Romeo's 3rd week in professional training

Several of us from Equihab went up to see Romeo at the trainer’s farm today.  Romeo is doing excellent.  He lets anyone clean out his feet & groom him now.   They went out on a trail ride with challenging hills, and he did awesome.   He stood quietly for tacking, untacking, waiting, and bathing.

Romeo’s [...]

Gypsy: newly adopted & settling in well

Gypsy is setting in wonderfully at his new home. He is being pampered & treated like a king!     Here is a photo of him at bathing time:

His new “mom” writes:

“GIPPER is doing great! The first day — Saturday — his attitude was like, “whoa, what is this stall stuff? I am used to [...]

Another happy ending: Gypsy finds his perfect forever home

Today Gypsy the Quarterhorse was delivered to his forever-home about 30 miles from Equihab.   He will enjoy the company of 3 very nice horses — on over 20 fenced acres and a brand new barn.    Gypsy has got to be the luckiest horse in the world today!

Not only did Gypsy’s new “mom” and [...]
